February is Black History Month

To recognize Black History Month, Mrs. Bremner and Mr. Murry have created an extended BookTalk on African-American Authors. We will be delivering our presentation to several classes, beginning with Ms. Stoker's classes on January 31.

Be sure to look at the books we have in the foyer. Thanks to Mrs. Hackney for creating the display.

Finally, here is a list of some great web sites for Black History Month:

Students Know What They Need

Today I was talking with a couple of students, and I asked them what they would like on The MC web page. They were both very quick to say, "Something that would help us with our homework."

They were not talking about a way to cheat, but a way to find help. Enter B.J. Pinchbeck! Pinchbeck's resources have been around for several years, and he is now a part of the Discovery network.

A permanent link will be in the Free Services You Should Know category.

A New Look

We've rearranged the furniture in The MC to make it easier for teachers and students to conduct class, search for books, and move through the space.

Our reading area (with the comfortable chairs) is now beside the Fiction area.

We have a
  • 27-seat Theater area (which can accomodate up to 50)
  • 16-seat area (with four tables)
  • 20-seat area (with five tables)
  • 8-seat area (with two tables)

Be sure to come visit.

Ready or Not...

Here we are!

Here at The MC we have been trying to determine the online services we believe will help our teachers, students, and families. As was mentioned in the previous post, be sure to look at the information in the left column for specific services.

There are TWO things I want to highlight today:
  1. The Podcast - Choose the entry you would like to hear, and Click play.
  2. The Calendar - It shows what teachers are scheduled to bring their class to The MC.
We want everyone to know that this is your site! If you have suggestions, please click the Comments link at the end of each post to let us know. Be sure to look for frequent updates here.
